# Jet Browser > Jet Browser is MASAKA's Apache-2.0, self-hosted WPE WebKit runtime for AI agents. It exposes native input, page state, screenshots, and an ordered JSONL protocol without requiring an account, API key, model, database, or hosted control plane. Canonical overview: https://masaka-ai.vercel.app/jet-browser/ Technical report: https://masaka-ai.vercel.app/jet-browser/tech-report/ Source: https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser Raw benchmark data: https://masaka-ai.vercel.app/jet-browser/runtime-2026-10-07.json License: Apache-2.0 ## Agent setup prompt Paste this single line into Codex, Claude Code, or another repository-aware coding agent: Install or upgrade Jet Browser to the latest main for this repository from https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser. Read README.md and use its Codex marketplace instructions when plugin commands are available; otherwise register .agents/skills/jet-browser/SKILL.md as a repository skill. Confirm Docker and Node.js 24+, run npm run standalone, and report whether browser startup, native input, DOM verification, and PNG capture passed. Do not attach to my daily Chrome profile or start a persistent Chrome daemon. Follow docs/demo.md if setup or verification fails. ## Codex plugin marketplace Install the repository marketplace and Jet Browser plugin: codex plugin marketplace add masakaai/jet-browser --ref main codex plugin add jet-browser@masaka The installed skill checks Docker and Node.js 24+, runs the standalone acceptance flow, and explains how to integrate the versioned tool declarations. The plugin contains instructions; runtime source and verification remain in the public repository. ## Verified standalone flow git clone https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser.git cd jet-browser npm run standalone The acceptance flow builds the image, disables outbound networking, starts a real WPE WebKit browser, opens a loopback page, exercises native text input, verifies JavaScript and DOM state, captures a non-empty PNG, and closes the session. ## Runtime boundary - One isolated browser session per container. - One JSON command per stdin line and one machine-readable response per stdout line. - WPE WebKit 2.54 with WebDriver, native pointer and keyboard input, tabs, screenshots, and semantic DOM capture. - Framework-neutral versioned tool schemas live in sdk/tools.mjs. - Jet Browser does not provide Chromium CDP, Chrome extensions, a model loop, proxies, anti-bot services, or a hosted control plane. ## Benchmark facts and scope On the pinned offline fixture captured 2026-10-07, Jet Browser recorded a 1,445.25 ms median verified ready time and 189.6 MiB median active memory across seven passing runs. That was 72.7% lower ready time and 33.2% lower memory than the next result on the same host and task. These figures do not measure public-site success, anti-bot behavior, proxy quality, hosted latency, model accuracy, agent quality, long-running stability, or universal browser performance. Read the technical report and raw samples before citing the benchmark. ## Key repository documents - README and quick start: https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser/blob/main/README.md - Agent skill: https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser/blob/main/.agents/skills/jet-browser/SKILL.md - Architecture: https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser/blob/main/docs/architecture.md - Standalone demo: https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser/blob/main/docs/demo.md - Agent tool catalog: https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser/blob/main/docs/agent-tools.md - Benchmark method: https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser/blob/main/docs/benchmarks.md - Competitor boundary comparison: https://github.com/masakaai/jet-browser/blob/main/docs/comparison.md
